Eleanor Kay

Eleanor Kay joined First Nations Legal and Research Services in January 2024. During the previous four years she practiced land rights law at the Northern Land Council (NLC). In her time at the NLC, Eleanor worked on agreement negotiations for resources and infrastructure projects on native title country and represented native title holders in proceedings in the National Native title Tribunal. She also worked on native title claims and assisted Aboriginal corporations with governance and administration.  

Prior to working at the NLC, Eleanor was a lawyer at the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency and Berg Lawyers in South Australia. In the latter role Eleanor assisted two First Nations groups with various matters including the administration and re-negotiation of resources agreements, corporate governance, a native title claim, and early-stage Treaty negotiations.
